Compensate technicians for extra time spent on-site for time-consuming jobs
Computer jobs need to be paid by the hour. Some jobs take well over 3-5 hours depending on the speed of someones computer.

FelixSome jobs are compensated very low but those are the ones that require the most time.

Hank GalloMaybe a time estimate so clients would know what to expect if the job tooj much longer than the estimate. So a new computer setup is 90 minutes, and state an amount for each additional 30 minutes. I spent 3.5 hours on a modem setup, since Cox took so long to respond.

Ryan OsswaldI have been on SimpliSafe jobs that have taken almost 3 hours to complete. This would be very welcome.

P. SabieThis is a most definite, especially when the job order reads something like customer computer shuts down, randomly and no other details! Is it a lap top desk top, tower? What operating system is it running? If these call takers don’t know they need to pick a lead technician In the area that can go look at it or a way the customer could add pictures to the order! I’ve been working on computers for most of my life. You all need to check the boxes when taking an order. Right when a job says trouble shoot it mean just that, add if I’m not getting paid a fair wage then I guess I’ll start passing on all those calls. Trouble shooting jobs should be by the hour!

Sami HadhemThe customer needs to be informed that the price they pay, depends on time spent. It is not realistic to set a fixed price on troubleshooting jobs, or jobs that depend on Vendor to respond.

Welbon Omar SalaamWow guys these are some great comments and each one resonates with me. I thought I would have to type a whole bunch scenarios support this mandate in the comment section but you guys have already nailed it.
I agree we do need to he compensated for extra time spent base it on average time spent on that one task by all your techs. Then Especially when we don't give up and we pushed through until the job is complete no matter if it takes 5 hours. I've done that but only because I was way out of town on this job and the customer didn't mind. They just wanted it fixed.
You guys remember those jobs where after all of your Forum diving, youtubing, and even the manufacturer doesn't know how it will be fixed, you finally get off the phone with them. You're exhausted but push through with determination using your own noodle and wind up fixing it. So as I say, techie troubleshooting victories are always sweet! I agree they should be compensated properly. -

Jacob EI agree with what you said for computer jobs - sometimes you just have to wait on site and make sure that the customer's computer is fine after an update/reinstall.
HelloTech seems to have consolidated extra payout for additional sensors in SimpliSafe installs. There used to be a payout bump every 10 extra sensors. Now, I believe it is just two tiers (1-10 sensors and 10+ sensors). -

StephenThis is also almost always the reason I ignore computer jobs. The orders need to ALWAYS specify Mac vs PC, and also allow tech to know if the laptop is a real laptop or a chromebook which requires a different approach than regular Microsoft OS navigation.
